Isaac’s Blog
2008
So many things have happened. Isaac graduated on Friday. Instead of being on a high flow nasal cannula (not sure if this is the correct term), he’s now on a regular cannula, which is a low flow one plugged into the tubes on the wall. This means he’s getting less support. Because he is getting less help and less flow of oxygen, we’re that much closer to doing actual feedings by mouth not through his gavage tube.
We’re so close in fact that Isaac and I got to nuzzle. This is very much like kangaroo care, but Isaac is encouraged to explore what it will be like when he latches on for breast feeding. I LOVED IT! I have to tell you that knowing I will be able to feed & nourish him makes me feel amazing! I love to watch as he figures things out. He is truly a miracle.
Isaac is also eating 44 ccs every 3 hours. He is growing sooo fast. As of tonight, he weighs 4 lbs 13+ oz! Soon, he’ll be 5 lbs.! Unbelievable!
Tonight, I got some wonderful pics of Cobe & Isaac together. I love watching them. If you’d like to see more, please visit Isaac’s slideshow!
